Service projects often are linked to the Kiwanis program, “Young Children: Priority One.” This initiative places continuing focus on the needs of children in pediatric trauma, safety, child care, early development, infant health, nutrition, and parenting skills. Vallejo Suburban’s service efforts supporting local youth include sponsoring Troop and Pack 12 of the Boy Scouts. We recently partnered with Foster a Dream Inc. to support their efforts helping foster children in the area.
Service projects also can address other needs within the community, such as working to stop substance abuse, helping the elderly, promoting literacy, supporting youth sports and recreation, responding to disasters, and supporting specific persons in need. Vallejo Suburban Kiwanis is a very ‘hands-on’ club. We use our cook trailer to bring pancake breakfast fundraisers to Churches, Little Leagues and other organizations. Annually, we serve breakfast at the American Cancer Society’s annual “Relay for Life”. We volunteer our “manpower” to other efforts as needed. We specialize in constructing wheel chair ramps and other projects to make facilities accessible to everyone.
The Vallejo Suburban Kiwanis club is a snapshot of its community, with members from all walks of life and at every step of the career ladder. We are unified in our belief that children and their communities benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring and involved volunteers.
As one of the world’s leading community-service organizations, Kiwanis’ strength is that it is both international and local. Collectively, clubs have responded to global problems while continuing to address local needs. Working with other area Kiwanis Clubs, Vallejo Suburban participates in Special Olympics in the Fall and Spring, a Memorial Day project to maintain the cemetery at the Yountville Veterans Home, and Kiwanis Family House in
The Vallejo Suburban Kiwanis members work together to achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. We work at the Solano County Fair, Dixon May Fair and other County fairs; hold
